Construction of the regional Rail Baltica office starts near Iecava
Construction of a regional office, which will be the main coordination centre for the construction of the southern section of the main route from the Lithuanian border to Misa, has started at the construction site of the future Rail Baltica Infrastructure Maintenance Facility near Iecava. The base of the regional office has been constructed with concrete slabs and modules on several floors are being delivered and installed. Strong local engagement in the construction of the Rail Baltica main line
The construction of the Rail Baltica main line in Latvia is rapidly emerging as a major economic catalyst for regional businesses. To date, 222 companies – primarily Latvian – have registered in the tender platform used by ERB Rail, Rail Baltica’s mainline contractor. As Rail Baltica advances into the construction phase, local businesses are increasingly integrating into its international supply chain. Citizens take the opportunity to consult on Rail Baltica construction works in Iecava
The Rail Baltica information day, held on 27 August at the Iecava House of Culture, provided more than 30 individual consultations to citizens on various aspects of the project - from the progress of the main construction works and property disposals to environmental issues and supply chain opportunities for local businesses. The event was organised for the residents of Bauska and Iecava, as well as for other interested parties, by ERB Rail, the builder of the main line of Rail Baltica, together with Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas, the national implementer of the project in Latvia.
