Rail Baltica information day for citizens in Iecava

On Wednesday, 27 August, from 15.00 to 18.00, the Rail Baltica Information Day for the residents of Bauska Municipality and Iecava will take place at the Iecava Culture House.

The event is organised by the Rail Baltica main line builder ERB Rail together with the project’s national implementer in Latvia – the company Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas.

The aim of the event is to provide a direct dialogue between the project implementers and the public on the progress of the construction works, technical solutions and local impact issues.

“Our aim is to inform about the progress of the main line construction works and the works to be carried out in the coming months. The information day is an opportunity for citizens to ask questions and get answers from experts. I would like to stress that we will continue to organise such events on a regular basis,” says Miks Lūsis, ERB Rail PR Representative.

Visitors will have the opportunity to individually address thematic information tables where project representatives and experts will answer questions on topics of interest to residents, including the progress of construction works and potential impacts on properties and residents, as well as benefits to the community and other issues. Admission is free.

As already reported, the construction site of the future Rail Baltica infrastructure maintenance facility near Iecava is currently undergoing intensive earthworks and construction of internal infrastructure. Construction work on the Rail Baltica main line in Latvia starts on the southern section Misa-Lithuanian border, which is divided into smaller sections – 11 construction permits in total.

The approximately 16-hectare site of the Iecava Infrastructure Maintenance Facility will serve as a strategic logistics base and temporary office for the construction team of the main line builder ERB Rail during the construction of the southern section of the Rail Baltica main line.
