Rail Baltica contractors invite local entrepreneurs to cooperate in Iecava

Local businesses and service providers will play a key role in the construction of the Rail Baltica main line. That is why on 19 March, the main line contractor ERB Rail invites entrepreneurs from Bauska, Iecava and the surrounding area to an Entrepreneurs’ Day at the Iecava Union Administration to discuss opportunities for cooperation.
The Entrepreneurs’ Day will take place on 19 March in the 5th floor hall of the Iecava Union Administration, Skolas Street 4, Iecava, from 14.00 to 17.00. ERB Rail In cooperation with the Iecava Union Administration invites businesses, service providers, farms, individual entrepreneurs and self-employed persons whose services could be useful during the construction of the main line to attend the meeting.
ERB Rail invites applications from among local service providers who can offer catering services, outdoor lighting and artesian boreholes. The contractor is also looking for partners to provide accommodation in the vicinity of the Iecava Infrastructure Maintenance Facility, as well as specialists in tree felling, stump digging and access road maintenance.
To make the meeting more productive, the entrepreneurs should prepare information on their field of activity, experience in construction or infrastructure projects, specific materials, machinery or services, services or support measures that could be useful for the construction of Rail Baltica.
It is important to assess the capacity and delivery times of the entrepreneurs, as well as their ability to provide services directly in and around the Iecava Infrastructure Maintenance Facility.

As reported earlier, ERB Rail has started the construction works of the Iecava Infrastructure Maintenance Facility, about 10.5 kilometres away from the centre of Iecava, in the direction of Vārpas (Baldone), about one kilometre away from the V9 Iecava–Baldone–Daugmale national motorway of local importance.
Intensive preparations are already underway on the 16-hectare site, marking the location for the start of the main construction works. During the construction of the main line, the area will serve as a logistics base and temporary office for the ERB Rail team building the southern section from Misa to the Lithuanian border.
Major construction works will begin in April, starting with the preparation of the site foundations. The construction site for the main line will be an embankment approximately 2 metres high. Until then, there will be no significant increase in freight traffic, with up to ten delivery vehicles a day per route.

The international joint venture E.R.B. Rail JV PS (ERB Rail) is registered in Latvia and has been set up by three of Europe’s leading engineering and construction companies in the road, rail, steel construction and large concrete construction sectors – Eiffage Génie Civil SAS (France), Budimex S.A. (Poland) and Rizzani de Eccher S.p.A. (Italy). ERB Rail has started the contract for the construction of the main line on 8 January 2024.
The project is 81-85% financed by the Connecting Europe Facility and the remainder by the Latvian state budget. The beneficiary of the EU support and the project promoter is the Ministry of Transport
