The Railway Construction Manager will oversee all railway construction activities within the work zone and will be responsible for coordinating the work of subcontractors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To be responsible for organizing and managing railway construction works within the assigned section, in accordance with the client contract.
- To supervise activities related to railway construction, including earthworks, track structure assembly, track laying, drainage systems, as well as to ensure proper execution and maintenance of traffic management plan within the construction zone.
- To control the performance of the subcontractors’ works in accordance with contract deadlines, designs, approved budgets and other conditions.
- To plan and supervise subcontractors’ daily, weekly, and monthly work. To organize on-site meetings to ensure that daily tasks are carried out according to the schedule and to plan upcoming construction activities.
- To plan laboratory tests on-site in accordance with legislation and in cooperation with subcontractors. To plan and conduct inspections together with the FIDIC Engineer’s representative.
- To plan and carry out the acceptance of works in coordination with supervisors and subcontractors. To ensure that all construction documentation is accurate, properly submitted across all platforms, and fully meets the client’s contractual requirements.
- To prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports — including cost estimates, schedules, and other relevant information for client approval of work performed by ERB RAIL.
- To prepare daily, weekly, and monthly work progress reports using Novade software.
- To coordinate interdisciplinary works with SMT discipline managers. To prepare and present optimal solutions for all parties involved.
- To control the budget for the assigned scope of work in cooperation with the Commercial and Procurement Department.
- To ensure compliance of construction works with Latvian legislation and the company’s internal quality system.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Higher education in construction or an engineering degree.
- Railway Construction Practice Certificate.
- Experience 10 years as site construction manager in construction.
- Experience working with the BIS system.
- Knowledge of the road construction market: materials, contractors, equipment.
- High level of English, both spoken and written (at least at B1 level), fluent Latvian.
- Ability to adapt to the different stages of the Project and eventual changes to the plan.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time.
