Another 19 kilometers of the southern section of the Rail Baltica main line have been handed over for construction

EDzL and the main line builder ERB Rail have signed the act of commencement of construction works on the next three building permits for 19.62 kilometers, and the main line construction works can start on this section as well.

Initially, these three construction permits will be used for basic works such as deforestation, stump removal and unexploded ordnance scanning. The railway embankment and associated access and maintenance roads, culverts and water drains will also be constructed.

Total of 11 construction permits, or 11 smaller and larger construction sites, are in place for the southern section of the Rail Baltica main line, which is 45 kilometers long and runs from Misa to the Lithuanian border. Work is currently underway on seven construction permits for a total length of more than 30 kilometers, where foundation work and embankment construction will take place.

Since the beginning of the year, preparatory works on the southern section of the main line have been carried out on the first four building permits covering 11 kilometres. Of the total 250 hectares required for deforestation, approximately 116 hectares of the future railway route have been deforested and approximately 84 hectares are currently under deforestation.

At the same time, scanning for unexploded ordnance in the area of the first four construction permits has been completed and 100 explosive objects have been found and neutralised by December 2025.
