Representatives of the Rail Baltica project implementation team \u2013 specialists from Eiropas Dzelzce\u013ca l\u012bnija and ERB Rail, the contractor responsible for constructing the new Rail Baltica mainline \u2013 have launched regular meetings with the \u0136ekava Municipality.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the priority southern section of the Rail Baltica mainline (Lithuanian border\u2013Misa) borders the next construction section in central Latvia. \u0136ekava Municipality neighbours Bauska Municipality, where active construction works are already underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In preparation for the start of mainline construction under the first two construction permits in \u0136ekava Municipality, Oskars Geide, Rail Baltica Mainline Project Manager at Eiropas Dzelzce\u013ca l\u012bnijas, and M\u0101rcis Grieznis, Technical Project Manager for Construction Works at Eiropas Dzelzce\u013ca l\u012bnijas, met with representatives of the \u0136ekava Municipality on 28 May to present the latest developments in design and construction activities within the municipality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are 11 construction permits issued for the Rail Baltica mainline within \u0136ekava Municipality. The nearest planned construction procurements in and around the municipality include the development of the mainline section from the border of \u0136ekava and Baldone municipalities to V\u0101rpu Road, a section in Iecava Municipality, as well as the relocation of a 110 kV high-voltage power line and a gas transmission pipeline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

M\u0101ris Sauk\u0101ns, Stakeholder Manager at ERB Rail, shared experience from neighbouring Bauska Municipality, where Eiropas Dzelzce\u013ca l\u012bnijas, together with ERB Rail, maintains regular dialogue with local authorities and residents. This includes meetings with businesses and community groups, as well as the now well-established Rail Baltica Information Days, during which project specialists answer questions from residents about the Rail Baltica project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next meeting with \u0136ekava Municipality is scheduled for September. Rail Baltica Information Days for local residents are also planned for the autumn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
